So what are you planning for Christmas at your church?

Mike:

I don't know what my church is planning, but I am really tired of superficial "productions".  I think Christmas can be a wonderful time for intense and intimate worship celebration.  Yet, so many churches just put on shows.  What do you think?  Pagent vs. Praise?  Pagent as Praise?

Hey Dave,
I think the unchurched will come to "the show" but we've got to connect with them when they come...otherwise they'll stay lost.

Hey...I wanted to tell you, we're looking for a worship intern.  Any ideas?

Mike...
I have a few ideas but not for interns.  I know of one local guy who is an excellent guitarist and vocalist.  He led worship a Vineyard in Grand Rapids for five years.  He is based out of Holland.  He is currently applying for the contemporary worship position at Beechwood Reformed.  But if that were to fall through, he may consider what you have to offer.  Mark currently teaches guitar at Fire House Music in Holland.

Another excellent option is Rick Sieracki.  Rick is older and has been single his whole life.  He served with me in a past ministry.  Rick is an outstanding band-director and keyboardist.  If Rick is in charge of your band, it will be fully professional in short time.  Rick is an excellent developer of musicians and loves to teach.  Rick is a true artsy muscian type.  He currently serves two major Holland ministries part-time, but is looking for something stable...2/3's to full-time...with basic benefits.  You can check out his website on the E-Church Network by clicking on http://rick.echurchnetwork.net/.

Beyond that, I would recommend posting fliers at Hope college, RIT music and Fire House music.  Fliers always worked for me in the past.

thanks for the heads up on Mark and Rick... yah, we've got the fliers up.
If you run into any intern types, let me know.  We'd like to share Jeff's knowledge and abilities in developing some others in worship leading.
thanks!
